Espresso Coding
This is a site that many teachers use to teach children coding within school. The program is great at teaching specific skills and breaking them down into small sections. The website is broken down in units that the children can work their ways through starting with 1a and continuing. Each unit has a 6 step break down of learning a new skill that is support by a video teaching the children how to start coding. This video is there to break down what code they are expected to input. Some children will not use this video and have a go at the coding first.
Many teachers use this as a starting point to their lesson beginning with a video before moving on to getting the children to think about the key skill, what it involves and the link towards vocabulary and computational thinking.
Here are a few snapshots of the websites and how it is broken down. These images can be used as links to access the Espresso Coding website.
