Remote Control Toys They are a great way for children to develop their Computing skills during their play. It provides opportunity for children to understand that computers need someone controlling them in order for them work. Remote control toys are also a great tool for collaborative learning. Bee-Bots
Bee-Bots are found in most Primary schools around the country. Again they are getting children to understand that they need to provide instructions to make something work. Bee-Bots can be made to follow tracks or maps which children can make and have many opportunities for cross-curricular links. |
Hardware
Having a variety of Hardware available to the children will enable them to think about selecting the appropriate item for different tasks. They will find that an Ipad is easier for them to take outside to capture pictures rather than a Desktop! Children should be exposed to different types of Hardware as part of everyday life in the classroom. Most classrooms now have an Interactive White Board, if one is available why not load an electronic version of the class register and children are expected to click on their name each morning.
The document below provides a list of activities using different Hardware to support Learning. This supports an aspect of Computational Thinking.
